    • Monitors clinical indicators as established by CMS and Renal Network of the Upper Midwest; evaluates effectiveness of established protocols within the department; maintains quality documentation; serves as a resource for clinical documentation.  Complies with all established standards and practices. Assist the Clinical Nurse Manager in providing oversight and direction to all direct care staff and operation of the Kidney Center.
    • Associate Degree: Nursing
    • 2 to 3 Years in Dialysis or similar specialty
    • If not a Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) such certification shall be obtained within two years. 
    • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
    • Licensure to be eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
    • The ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
    • The physical, technical and cognitive ability as well as the manual dexterity, to use patient care equipment.
    • Demonstrates competency with specific clinical skills and techniques that are listed in the department/unit skills list. Functions within the Wisconsin Nurse Practices Act and hospital/nursing policy.
    • Administers medications, IV’s and treatments in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with policy and procedure.
    • Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of patient equipment according to specific product information and policy/procedure manuals.
    • Recognizes the occurrence of life-threatening situations and emergencies and takes the appropriate actions in a timely manner.
    • Actively participates in the implementation and monitoring of unit-based Quality Assurance standards of care, coordinate and lead QAPI meetings.
    • Actively participate in creating and reviewing department policies and procedures to ensure quality, effective and efficient delivery of patient care services.
    • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff and nursing student clinical rotations as requested.
    • Assists in monitoring the electronic medical record systems for accuracy. 
    • Performs calculations based from the laboratory values on a monthly basis.
    • Adjusts and orders medications per protocol.
    • Communicates quality indicator findings to Departmental Manager and the Medical Director on a regular basis.
    • Coordinates and assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
    • Actively participate in departmental audits and continuing education of staff. 
    • Provide support to the Lead RN in coordinating daily activities related to the operation of both chronic outpatient unit and inpatient acute treatments. 
    • Demonstrate communication and leadership skills by collaborating with giving direction to members of the team to achieve positive patient outcomes within established timeframes. 
    • Under the guidance of the Departmental Manager, coordinates, facilitates and participates in: the recruitment of employees; staffing and scheduling of staff; monitoring and evaluating employee performance; and the implementation of corrective action related to employee performance.
    • Under the guidance of Departmental Manager, mentors and supervises the staff assigned within the department. #cb
