Job Description

Assist the pharmacists in the performance of clerical, technical and non-professional functions in the provision of pharmaceutical services to patients, staff and physicians. The Technician works under the supervision of the Pharmacist-on-duty. Coordinates the implementation, integration, and maintenance of the Automated Dispensing Cabinet system. Maintains the integration of the Automated dispensing cabinet formulary with the IS system i.e. drug formulary, software updates. Trains hospital staff in related functionality of the automated dispensing cabinet system and the Pharmacy application of GE. Monitors performance, prepares reports from the automated dispensing cabinet system and GE Pharmacy system. Coordinates the implementation of Bar Code technology to pharmacy operations

Education: Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science or related technical area preferred.

Experience Required: 3-5 years

Certification as a Pharmacy Technician within 12 months is recommended but not required.

Strong computer related skills. Previous experience with a pharmacy information system is preferred.

Experience in the implementation and maintenance of technology related products is preferred.

Analytical skills necessary to evaluate problems and arrange appropriate service or develop plans and procedures to achieve resolution, insure completion and evaluation effectiveness.

Strong leadership abilities and ability to work with a variety of diverse people and organizations including nurses, directors, managers, IS analysts and technical staff. Ability to think conceptually and translate broad organizational issues to the daily operational level.

Shift: Varied

Hours: 80 hours biweekly

Location: Rotation between campuses
