Job Description

  • POSITION PURPOSE
    • Processes all receipts for the hospital; assists patients with questions or information about bills; receives, records and stores patient valuables in the safe; and other various duties related to the Patient Account Office as needed. Performs cashier functions related to receiving checks and posting payments as necessary from patients and other sources. Maintains the timely and accurate processing of office mail.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
    • High School or Equivalent (GED)
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • Entry Level

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
    • Must be able to operate the following equipment: microfiche reader, computer (PC), calculator, copy machine, scanner, and fax machine.
  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Assisting patients while at the cashier window with questions regarding the billing.
    • Have knowledge of insurance contracts and calculates and posts appropriate discounts.
    • Posting payments from patients and third-party payer remittances.
    • Accurately processing credit card payments. #cb
