Job Description

Employees in this position will use established coding guidelines and policies to capture charges for all injections and infusions and assign the CPT codes based on the coding hierarchy rules. Additionally, employees in this position will similarly capture charges and assign CPT and/or other codes for other servivces for which the coding and charging is deemed the responsibility of the Health Information Management deparment.

Education:  High School or Equivalent (GED) / Associates Degree in HIT preferred
Experience Required:  1 year in healthcare preferred / Coding experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications:  RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) eligible or certified preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Ability to read, write, hear, speak, and comprehend the English language.
Ability to re-organize work, re-prioritize tasks, and perform multi-tasks in a changing environment.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to accurately relay information and communication in a tactful and courteous manner with co-workers, clinical staff, non-clinical staff, patients, and visitors.
Proficient computer and keyboarding skills and experience using Mircosoft Office products.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology.
Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).
