POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Controller and has direct oversight of 3-5 staff accountants and accounts payable employees.  Responsibilities include managing the daily operations of the Accounting Department, with an expectation to monitor and analyze accounting data, produce financial statements and reporting, establish, enforce and support staff accountants to ensure proper accounting methods, policies and principles are utilized. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships, while encouraging team performance
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting
  • 990 reporting
  • Bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation and fixed assets
  • Manage accounting software and upgrades

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting at a minimum; CPA or MBA preferred, but not required
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented and focused on timeline delivery
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities with superior numeric skills
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal, and written skills
  • Must be highly motivated, result oriented and have the ability to function independently, while multi-tasking
  • Expert computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Experience with other financial systems, such as Allscripts preferred
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to see big picture
