Cardiac Rehab Specialist

• POSITION PURPOSE
  • The Cardiac Rehab Specialist develops and executes a safe and appropriate plan of exercise therapy for clients utilizing skills and education specific to the field of exercise.
• MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • Bachelors Degree in: Exercise Physiology or related field
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 1 to 3 years
• LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist certification preferred.
• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • One to two (1-2) years of previous experience in cardiac rehabilitation preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language.
• PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Instructing, monitoring and supervising exercise of Phase I, II, and II cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation patients.
  • Instructing and leading floor exercises, warm-up exercises and cool-down exercises, as well as instructing patients in use of aerobic exercise equipment and weight training equipment.
  • Writing patient daily/ monthly progress notes and other necessary documentation.
  • Review patient’s progress at weekly staff meetings and hand-off communication.
  • Orientating new patients.
  • Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department.
  • Educating patients about risk factor modification.
