Fundamental Pharmacy Technician

• POSITION PURPOSE
  • Assist the pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in the performance of clerical, technical and non-professional functions in the provision of pharmaceutical services to patients, staff and physicians
    The Delivery Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of the Pharmacist-on-duty.
• MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • High School or Equivalent (GED) Preferred
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Entry Level
• LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Wisconsin pharmacy technician license is required.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician within 12 months is recommended, but not required.
• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Must have knowledge of pharmacy
    Must exhibit a working knowledge of drug names, doses, strengths, and formulations.
  • Must successfully complete Pharmacy Technician competency programs through on-the-job exposure.
• PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Deliver medication to nursing units and outpatient areas with the hospital.

    Processes printed medication orders and stock medication request as needed.
    3
    Processes medication trays when needed.
    4
    Answers telephone calls and responds to customer service window.
    5
    Replaces returned medication to appropriate storage areas.
    6
    Monitors par levels, reorders, and medications when needed.
    7
    Repackage pharmaceutical into unit dose packages.
